Cherry Stones
Cherry Stones (also called Pits) are increasingly used as a naturally dust-free filling material. Our stones can be washed at 40 degrees and will not break down or smell “musty” after being soaked and dried again. The stones can be fragranced with essential oils although their natural state is very pleasant.
These pits have been cleaned in a drum washer using only water (no acids or chemicals), and are 100% free of cherry pulp. They are whole and still have their original cherry fragrance.
A popular alternative to wheat in heat packs, cherry pits can also be used to fill cold compresses. They are ideal for the production of self-sewn pillows, pads, door stops and toys. Heating times vary in a microwave depending on power and stone volume. The stones can also be warmed in an oven at low temperatures, or keep on a radiator. Take care though not to overheat and burn your cherry stones. Heat retention typically lasts around an hour. Similarly, they will remain cold after being chilled in a freezer, for around an hour.
