Barleygrass Seed

Barleygrass seed 2014 harvest. Grown on the fertile West Lancashire plains without the use of any fungicides or pesticides and as part of a land management & Wildlife enhancement program. The whole grains are then packed in bags ready to be shipped. The Barleygrass is a broad blade grass with a lighter green colour than wheatgrass, Barleygrass is consumed by many people in the form of a capsule called “Barley Green”.

Barleygrass Juice

The fresh juice is a much more potent food containing live enzymes which the powders and capsules do not. Making fresh barleygrass is best – as are all fresh foods. The juice is quite intense – flavour wise, so we advise that you mix it with other grains to come up with your tastiest juice. barleygrassThat is a completely subjective decision – some of you might love straight Barley Grass Juice – but around here we like to mix it into our Wheat at a rate of about 5:1 (20% Barley). The Grasses all provide about the same nutrition so mix and match freely. It is  said that Barleygrass is to have 30 times more vitamin B1 and 11 times the amount of calcium than there is in cow’s milk. 6.5 times as much carotene and nearly 5 times the iron content of spinach, close to seven times the vitamin C in oranges and 80 micrograms of vitamin B12 per 100ml.

The Barleygrass is very high in  sodium, which dissolves calcium deposited on the joints and also replenishes organic sodium in the lining of the stomach. This aids digestion by improving the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. People with arthritis have used celery juice for years because of the organic (not mineral) sodium it contains (28mg per 100grms), but compare this to the amount of  sodium in barleygrass (775mg per 100 grams)!
